Choosing Focus
Looking deeper changes everything.
Oftentimes, I will either use an older, fully manual focus lens or set my modern lens to manual focus. Standing still, eye to the viewfinder and slowly adjusting focus from near to far, far to near, releasing the shutter at every point along the way where an interesting image emerges and then vanishes again as the focus shifts. Even in a narrow field of view, from one fixed point, there can be many variations, each of equal interest and value.
