The 10th Anniversary of CHOP SHOP: Bodies of Work, A Contemporary Dance Festival this February 18th & 19th will feature The Stone Dance Collective, reprising a work from the inaugural festival in 2008! (click for tickets)
Eva Stone, founder and Producer/Curator of CHOP SHOP, is also a gifted choreographer & teacher. Her dance company, The Stone Dance Collective, will be presenting the return of Me Over You, a contemporary, feminist take on the classic ballet Pas de Quatre. I’m a fan of Eva’s work and The Stone Dance Collective’s gifted dancers — I’m looking forward to seeing this (new to me) piece!
Eva founded The Stone Dance Collective in London, England in 1993 and relocated it in 1995 to become a permanent part of the Seattle/Eastside dance community. Word on the street is that cake is served, without exception, after every rehearsal. [note to self: start crashing rehearsals]
Here are images (shot from the wings during the live performance) of her original work Carbon Black and Fiber at last year’s CHOP SHOP.
